Geotechnical Engineer EIT

About the role

ProTeX is a privately owned and operated engineering firm with a laid-back, family-friendly culture. The ideal candidate will have a degree in Civil Engineering and be working towards their EIT. Experience in geotechnical engineering is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Perform field sampling and testing using various equipment such as drill rigs, seismic refraction, double-ring infiltrometers, etc.
• Conduct a variety of skilled professional engineering work in the office and/or field.
• Apply broad/basic knowledge of principles of civil and geotechnical engineering to observe construction work, document existing conditions, scope work, prepare proposals, perform site studies, identify soil and bedrock, establish laboratory testing programs, evaluate and characterize site conditions, perform engineering analysis, and prepare reports.
• Participate and collaborate in project team settings and engage in creative and critical thought.
• Interpret sketches, engineering drawings, and other similar material.
• Prepare/review a variety of geotechnical reports, studies, and evaluations.
• Review construction observation and testing data and prepare reports.
• Analyze and design mechanically stabilized earth retaining structures, slope stability analysis, ground anchors, and soil nails.
• Understand geotechnical engineering concepts and analysis methods.
• Work with Microsoft Office and familiar with AutoCAD Civil3D, GeoStudio, and gINT.
• Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Travel on an as-needed basis to support geotechnical investigations, construction, and inspections.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
• 0-4 years of related experience
• Passed the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam (optional)
• Proficient in MS Word, Outlook, and Excel
• Effective oral and written communication skills
• Works well in a team environment
• Thorough attention to detail

Pay

Salary range: $60,000 - $80,000 annually
