Job Description

CDM Smith is seeking a junior Geotechnical Engineer to join our Infrastructure Services Team in Denver, CO. Candidates in this role can expect to:

  • Create excavation, dewatering, shallow/deep foundations, dams/reservoirs/levees, geo-environmental projects, etc. support engineering designs of basic to moderate complexity to meet client project requirements.
  • Review draft designs for compliance with federal, state and local regulations.
  • Ensure that firm policies and practices are followed on all designs.
  • Perform site reviews and studies, as needed, to ensure designs are aligned with location specifications.
  • Update design requirements as necessary.
  • Perform soil sampling analyses and modeling.
  • Contribute to firm's Knowledge Material by developing white papers and technical design documentation of new or special case designs, studies, etc.
  • Submit technical papers and designs for publishing to technical journals.
  • Create or work with a team to create a poster or other presentation material for a conference.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Geotechnical, Civil, Mining or Geologic Engineering or related discipline.
  • 1 year of related experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering.

Skills & Abilities

  • Intermediate Knowledge of computer assisted design and drafting (CADD) 3D and 4D software and practices.
  • Knowledge of engineer principles of design.
  • Expert Knowledge of Microsoft business software (excel, word, etc.).
  • Good written and verbal communications skills.
