Geospatial Project Manager - Utilities
About the role
As a Geospatial Project Manager at SAM, you will play a key role in delivering geospatial solutions that support critical electric utility projects. You’ll lead project planning and execution, manage a team of technicians, and work closely with clients to ensure projects are delivered efficiently, accurately, and on schedule.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and mentor technical staff to ensure long-term growth of the department
- Establish work plans and staffing requirements for multiple projects
- Manage projects from start to finish while ensuring our services meet our clients’ needs and quality standards
- Leverage new and existing relationships to cultivate new opportunities and grow additional business
- Participate in planning and implement procedures and systems to maximize operating efficiency
- Develop and manage proposals, budgets, schedules, billings, and contracts
- Participate in business development/sales efforts for Geospatial opportunities and maintain strong client relationships
- Develop and conduct presentations to clients and other critical stakeholders
- Effectively interface with sub-consultants and any other business relationships associated with the Geospatial Services
- Provide Geospatial support to other operational units as needed
- Serve as Company representative at meetings and presentations
Requirements
5+ years of public utility project management experience (electric, water, gas, etc.)
General knowledge of and experience with photogrammetry, aerial mapping, and/or LiDAR
Proven ability to manage projects, teams, and client relationships
General knowledge of utility operations and regulations
Strong understanding of geospatial technologies, including photogrammetry and LiDAR workflows as they apply to utility operations
Experience with GIS and/or CAD platforms (e.g., MicroStation, Civil 3D, etc.)
Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Bachelor’s degree in Geospatial Sciences, GIS, Geomatics, or a related field (preferred)
