About the role
Join Stantec’s team in Lombard, IL as a Project Geologist in our Remediation business line. You will support complex environmental consulting projects focusing on site characterization, remediation, and brownfield revitalization for key clients.
Responsibilities
- Oversee remedial activities at affected facilities, properties, or sites addressing chemical impacts in air, surface water, soil, soil vapor, groundwater, and/or sediment.
- Conduct due diligence, Phase I ESAs or other environmental projects.
- Conduct intrusive site investigations, Phase II ESAs, facility investigations, and remedial investigations of vapor, surface water, soil, groundwater, and/or sediment to determine the presence or absence, nature, and extent of constituents of concern.
- Collect, and interpret data, conduct analyses, and compare findings to relevant studies and local, state and federal regulations.
- Compile, evaluate, analyze, and present/report subsurface investigation data and prepare technical reports.
- Contribute to design and optimization of environmental remediation systems and strategies.
- Collaborate with other scientific and engineering professionals within the practice.
- Cookordination and oversight of subcontractors, including health and safety management.
- Prepare health & safety plans, work plans, reports, and other technical documents.
- Travel may be required for the purpose of field work, participating in off-site meetings, or training.
Requirements
- Strong technical aptitude and technical writing ability.
- Ability to prioritize work and make responsible decisions.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail with the ability to recognize discrepancies.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks at once and meet strict project deadlines.
- Ability to travel regionally and locally as required for field work and project needs (up to 50%).
- Valid US driver’s license and good driving record.
Credentials
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Geology.
- Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in environmental consulting required.
- Professional Geologist (PG) License, or passing the Fundamentals Exam, is a plus but not required.
- 40-hour HAZWOPER training preferred.
- Experience executing projects within the Illinois EPA Voluntary Site Remediation Program (SRP), Leaking Underground Storage Tank (LUST) Program, and/or Due Diligence (Phase I / II ESA) is preferred.

- Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in environmental consulting required.
