About the role

Join Stantec’s team in Lombard, IL as a geologist in training within our Remediation business line. You will support complex environmental consulting projects focusing on site characterization, remediation, and brownfield revitalization for key clients.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in remedial activities at affected facilities, properties, or sites addressing chemical impacts in air, surface water, soil, soil vapor, groundwater, and/or sediment.
  • Conduct due diligence, Phase I ESAs or other environmental projects.
  • Conduct intrusive site investigations, Phase II ESAs, facility investigations, and remedial investigations of vapor, surface water, soil, groundwater, and/or sediment to determine the presence or absence, nature, and extent of constituents of concern.
  • Collect, and interpret data, conduct analyses, and compare findings to relevant studies and local, state and federal regulations.
  • Compile, evaluate, analyze, and present/report subsurface investigation data and prepare technical reports.
  • Collaborate with other scientific and engineering professionals within the practice.
  • Cookordination and oversight of subcontractors, including health and safety management.
  • Preparation of health & safety plans, work plans, reports, and other technical documents under supervision.
  • Travel may be required for the purpose of field work or training.

Ability to prioritize work and make responsible decisions
Ability to work independently or as part of a team
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail with the ability to recognize discrepancies
Ability to manage multiple tasks at once and meet strict project deadlines
Ability to travel regionally and locally as required for field work and project needs (up to 75%)
Valid US driver’s license and good driving record.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Geology
  • Professional experience in environmental consulting is preferred but not required
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER training preferred
