Geologist

About the role

AECOM is seeking a self-motivated, experienced Geologist for our Denver, Colorado office. This position supports Project Managers in planning, overseeing fieldwork, and evaluating hydrogeologic and reporting phases for a variety of multidisciplinary environmental projects.

Responsibilities

• Manage field-based tasks of environmental investigation and remediation programs.
• Oversee and lead well installation and sampling tasks, and communicate with Project Managers.
• Data management, evaluation, and report writing, including drafting environmental investigation and closure reports.
• Interpret and record data, conduct analyses, compare findings to relevant studies and local, state, and federal regulations to ensure compliance.
• Comfortable with travel to project locations including driving and overnight stays. Expected travel time is greater than 50% of the time.
• Work on a multitude of diverse projects, maintain a positive attitude, mentor junior staff, and commit to workplace health and safety.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in geology or relevant geological science discipline (e.g., geophysics, hydrogeology, or geochemistry).
• 4+ years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
• Professional Geologist License or Geologist in Training Certificate (preferred).
• Familiarity with common drilling techniques for environmental work.
• Current OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification (preferred).
• Knowledge of RCRA or CERCLA processes (preferred).
• Experience with local regulatory agencies (preferred).
• Reporting experience in routine monitoring, site investigation work plans, conceptual site models, and well installation reports (preferred).
• Task management or project management experience (preferred).
• Proposal writing a plus (preferred).
