About This Job
The Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality’s (LDEQ) mission is to provide service to the people of Louisiana through comprehensive environmental protection in order to promote and protect health, safety, and welfare. This position is for a Geologist in the Remediation Group 1. This position involves overseeing the investigation and remediation phases of sites that are impacted by various releases. The geographical area under the purview of this position is LDEQ’s Northwest Region.

Job Duties
- Review site investigation reports once a release has been confirmed.
- Review RECAP Evaluation Report and determine calculated Limiting Risk Standards are correct.
- Review slug test data or permeability data to determine the appropriate groundwater classification.
- Review and comment on Corrective Action Plans to address contaminated media above RECAP standards.
- Conduct site visits to oversee investigations and installation and implementation of approved remedial technologies.
Position-Specific Details
- Appointment Type: Either a probationary appointment, a job appointment (a temporary appointment not to exceed four years), or promotion of a permanent classified employee. If the position is filled as a job appointment, it could be converted to a probational appointment should funding become available.
- Domicile: Statewide
- Career Progression: Geologist 1-Geologist 3, depending on the level of experience of the selected applicant.
Compensation
- Geologist 1: $22.57 per hour
- Geologist 2: $25.84 per hour
- Geologist 3: $29.59 per hour
