Genomics Counselor II (Remote US - PST)

About the role

Joining the Clinical Genomics team at Helix at this point in time will allow a genetic counselor to contribute to building new diagnostic tests and enabling population genomics screening. Helix is at the beginning of its diagnostics journey, and your voice will be indispensable in the growth and development of this endeavor. You'll also play a direct clinical role—writing reports, fielding provider inquiries, and serving as a knowledgeable point of contact for ordering clinicians navigating complex genomic results.

Responsibilities

• Review current clinical guidelines and contribute to writing genetic testing reports as relevant to Helix’s hereditary cancer, hereditary cardiovascular disease, pharmacogenomics, and/or population genomics presence.
• Estimate test sensitivity and specificity given design parameters.
• Work closely with Helix development and QA teams and contribute to compliance, training, and production activities as needed.
• Define and create test reports suitable for clinician and patient consumption.
• Respond to provider clinical inquiries via phone and email, including questions about results, variant interpretation, Helix test menu, and more.
• Act as a stakeholder for teams building tools for interpretation and reporting.
• Actively participate in continuing education series including journal clubs, complex variant discussions/presentations, and conferences, as needed.

Requirements

• Master's degree or higher in genetic counseling or human genetics.
• Valid Genetic Counselor License or Temporary Genetic Counselor License issued by the State of California.
• Meets licensing requirements for the state of residence.
• 2+ years working as a genetic counselor, preferably in a clinical setting such as prenatal, adult genetics, or pediatric genetics.
• Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.
• Initiative-driven, self-motivated.
• Collaborative, constructive cross-functional team member.
• Based in Pacific time zone.

Preferred Qualifications

• Direct patient experience.
• Variant interpretation experience.
• Experience with provider communication and clinical result disclosure.

Pay

The base pay range for this role is $115,000 – $159,250 per year. There are three distinct parts to your Helix offer:

• Base Salary: $115,000 - $159,250.
• Annual Bonus: 10% of your annual salary.

Onboarding Timeline
