Generator Technician - Entry level
Key Responsibilities
- Perform skilled repairs of Volvo Penta Diesel Engines (16 L), Power Solutions International (21.9 L) and Marathon generator ends, as well as various voltage control and synchronizing equipment.
- Be proficient at learning and utilizing manufacturer specific software to troubleshoot and diagnose engine and control system problems.
- Facilitate technical support and liaison with equipment manufacturers.
- Perform scheduled, preventive, or predictive generator maintenance tasks.
- Perform troubleshooting and repair tasks.
- Perform periodic inspections to identify maintenance needs.
- Work in potentially confined areas of high heat and humidity, and cold.
- Follow company process and procedures for verbal/written communications.
- Utilize all current technology for communication, documentation, and research.
- Ensure Safe Operation of electrical equipment by enforcing company and industry standards.
- Safely prepare, operate, and maintain motor vehicles for the purpose of conducting company business.
Requirements
- Basic (Required): Basic mechanical and/or electrical knowledge with an interest in power generation, industrial equipment, or field service operations.
- Ability to safely operate company vehicles to transport materials, equipment, and personnel while following all traffic laws and company safety standards.
- Must successfully pass a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check and maintain a valid driver’s license.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to performing quality work safely and accurately.
- Basic computer skills, including the ability to use software applications, mobile devices, and digital systems for work documentation and communication.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including participation in an on-call rotation that may include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Entry-level candidates are encouraged to apply; trade school, vocational training, military technical training, or hands-on mechanical/electrical experience is highly preferred.
- Strong work ethic, willingness to learn, and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Must be able to be on your feet for multiple hours a day.
- Must be able to climb a ladder and lift 50 lbs safely.
- Integrity- Work efficiently and effectively when with or without supervision.
