General Supply Specialist
About the role
This position involves in-depth research and causative analysis of discrepancies resulting from physical inventories, warehouse refusals, and reports of survey or customer complaints. Duties include determining the cause of record imbalances, initiating corrective actions, generating FLIPL reports, developing new procedures, analyzing trends, conducting operational and systemic studies, identifying new procedures to reduce inventory errors, and planning and conducting inventories.
Responsibilities
- Plans, develops schedules for, and conducts inventories.
- Conducts investigations and analysis to determine causes of inventory discrepancies.
- Provides recommendations which correct or prevent errors.
- Gathers data from automated systems to analyze trends of recurring discrepancies.
- Conducts operational and systemic studies to causes contributing to physical inventory and location inaccuracies.
- Validates data compiled using various ADP systems to resolve record accuracy problems.
- Identifies and initiates new procedures to reduce inventory record error rate, streamline inventory processes, and comply with agency guidance.
- Arranges special inventories to reconcile accountable records.
- May operate material handling equipment such as forklifts and stock selectors to locate and move materials.
- May lead lower graded technicians performing inventory functions.
Requirements
Specialized experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position, typically in or related to the position to be filled. For the GS-09 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector.

- Education: To qualify at the GS-09 level based on education in lieu of specialized experience, applicants must possess a master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LLB or J.D., if related. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. Education must be from a college or university accredited by an organization approved by the U.S. Department of Education.
- Combination: Combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements for the GS-09 grade level, and may be computed by first determining the applicant's total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level; then determining the applicant's education as a percentage of the education required for the grade level; and then adding the two percentages. The total percentages must equal at least 100 percent to qualify an applicant for that grade level.
