About the Role

As a General Supply Specialist, you will serve as the supply focal point for material support at PSNS, ensuring timely and efficient receipt and distribution of materials.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare material status briefings for PSNS project management staff and attend meetings to brief material status.
  • Review reports and schedules to determine material support requirements.
  • Record material status accurately and promptly in the PSNS Material Access Technology (MAT) data system, including all information required to support timely and efficient receipt and distribution of material.
  • Pass urgent material requirements to General Services Administration (GSA), Defense Logistics Agency (DLA), other Navy supply agencies, and Contracting.
  • Expedite the acquisition and movement of material.
  • Interpret and follow material procurement policies and procedures, and train other personnel.
  • Analyze and resolve difficult issues and problems related to supply processes, work methods, supply data management, or day-to-day operational procedures.
  • Maintain workload statistics; analyze and compile data for reporting.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Non-Critical Sensitive position with Secret access; appointment is subject to a favorable suitability or fitness determination.
  • Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA): Non-Exempt.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service.
  • Bargaining Unit Status: Yes.
  • Selectees must have a REAL ID or other acceptable identification documents to access certain federal facilities.
  • Drug-Free Workplace: Pre-employment, reasonable suspicion, post-accident, and random drug testing required. Refusal or positive test results may result in withdrawal of the job offer or removal from Federal service.

The DLA drug testing panel tests for marijuana, cocaine, opiates, heroin, phencyclidine, amphetamines, methamphetamines, fentanyl, norfentanyl, MDMA, MDA, and opioids. Use of cannabidiol (CBD) products may result in a positive drug test for marijuana.

Qualifications

To qualify for the General Supply Specialist position, your resume and supporting documentation must demonstrate one of the following:

  • Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. Creditable experience includes:
    • Understanding material problems created by ship repair work under the project management concept and actions required to minimize them.
    • Analyzing and resolving difficult issues related to supply processes, work methods, or operational procedures.
    • Maintaining workload statistics and compiling data for reporting.
  • Education Substitution: A master's or equivalent graduate degree, or two full academic years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree, or an LL.B or J.D. (if related). Education must be from an accredited institution. Transcripts are required if using education to qualify.
  • Combination: Combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements for GS-09. Only graduate education in excess of the amount required for the next lower grade level may qualify applicants for GS-09.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps). Foreign education must be evaluated by a private organization specializing in foreign education credentials to ensure equivalency to U.S. education programs.

Schedule

Tour of Duty: 1st shift, set schedule from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
