Job Summary

We’re looking for a General Superintendent – Mechanical to provide overall field leadership across all mechanical construction disciplines on our power generation and industrial projects.

About the Role

This is a multi-discipline leadership role spanning everything from anchor bolts up: structural steel erection, equipment setting and alignment, piping fabrication and installation, boilermaker work, and electrical systems—all the way through mechanical completion and handoff to precommissioning.

Responsibilities

  • Provide overall field leadership and direction across all mechanical construction disciplines, including: Structural steel erection, Millwright / mechanical equipment setting and alignment, Piping fabrication, installation, and testing, Boilermaker work (HRSGs, SCR systems, stacks, ductwork), Electrical installation, cable pulling, terminations, and testing, Crane and rigging operations.
  • Directly oversee and coordinate discipline-specific superintendents across all mechanical trades on site.
  • Own the integrated mechanical construction schedule from anchor bolt installation through mechanical completion and turnover to precommissioning.
  • Drive construction sequencing and prioritization across disciplines to optimize workflow, minimize rework, and maintain critical path.
  • Ensure smooth transitions between construction phases—foundations to steel, steel to equipment setting, equipment to piping and electrical tie-ins.

Qualifications

  • 15–25 years of experience in heavy industrial or power generation construction, with progressive leadership across multiple mechanical disciplines.
  • Proven experience as a General Superintendent, Mechanical Superintendent, or equivalent senior field leader on large-scale projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and coordinate across multiple trades simultaneously: Structural steel erection, Millwright / equipment setting and precision alignment, Piping fabrication, installation, welding, and testing, Boilermaker / HRSG erection, Electrical installation, cable, and terminations, Crane and rigging operations.
  • Strong knowledge of applicable codes and standards, including ASME, AISC, AWS, NEC, NFPA, and OSHA.
  • Proven track record of managing large craft workforces (500+ craft personnel across disciplines).
  • Ability to read and interpret multi-discipline construction drawings, P&IDs, one-lines, vendor manuals, and specifications.
  • Strong understanding of construction sequencing from foundations through mechanical completion and precommissioning.
  • Experience managing area turnover and system-by-system completion strategies.
  • Experience working within a matrix organization with functional and project reporting lines.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, conflict resolution, and organizational skills.
  • Strong commitment to safety and quality.

Preferred

  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification.
  • NCCER certification in one or more mechanical trades.
  • Experience on utility-scale or large industrial EPC projects ($200M+).
  • Familiarity with both union and non-union work environments.
  • Experience with GE, Siemens, or Mitsubishi gas turbine and HRSG installations.
  • Experience supporting commissioning, startup, and initial plant operations.
  • Experience with modular construction and pre-assembled rack/module installation.
  • Proficiency with construction management software and scheduling tools (Primavera P6, Procore, or equivalent).
