General Superintendent, Mechanical
Requirements
Lead and supervise daily mechanical construction activities including piping, equipment setting, structural supports, conveyors, tanks, pumps, utilities, HVAC coordination, and process systems installation.
Coordinate field execution activities between mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, controls, and operations teams to ensure successful project delivery.
Monitor contractor performance, workforce productivity, installation quality, and schedule adherence across multiple scopes of work.
Review engineering drawings, P&IDs, equipment layouts, isometrics, and construction packages to ensure proper field execution.
Identify and resolve field conflicts, constructability issues, and installation challenges in coordination with engineering and project management teams.
Participate in daily coordination meetings, safety walks, contractor alignment meetings, and schedule reviews.
Ensure all work is executed in compliance with company safety standards, LOTO procedures, environmental requirements, and quality expectations.
Career Development Support
Drive accountability across contractors and internal teams to meet aggressive project milestones and commissioning targets.
Support development of scopes of work, contractor bid packages, field change requests, and installation planning activities.
Promote continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, productivity, and operational reliability.
Qualifications
5-10 years of experience in industrial mechanical construction, maintenance, or commissioning environments.
Experience managing field construction activities within mining, chemical refining, manufacturing, battery, energy, or heavy industrial facilities preferred.
Strong knowledge of mechanical systems including piping, pumps, tanks, conveyors, rotating equipment, utilities, and process systems.
Base knowledge and understanding of electrical systems including motor controls, conduit routing, MCCs, instrumentation interfaces, and equipment power requirements.
Demonstrated ability to lead contractors and coordinate multiple disciplines in active industrial or manufacturing environments.
Strong understanding of construction sequencing, commissioning activities, and shutdown planning.
Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Experience working in fast-paced environments with evolving priorities and aggressive schedules.
Strong commitment to safety leadership and quality execution.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, project tracking tools, and construction reporting systems.
OSHA 30 certification preferred.
Experience with lithium-ion battery manufacturing, recycling, mining, or chemical processing facilities is a plus.
Technical degree, trade certification, or equivalent field experience preferred.
