About the role

MaineHealth Behavioral Health (MHBH) is seeking a full-time (1.0 FTE), fellowship-trained, board-certified Psychiatrist to join the Department of Psychiatry at MaineMedical Center Portland (MHMMCP). This role offers a unique hybrid opportunity, combining leadership and clinical practice. The selected candidate will serve as the General Psychiatry Residency Program Director (0.5 FTE) while also providing psychiatric clinical care (0.5 FTE).

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the General Psychiatry Residency Program Director (0.5 FTE)
  • Provide psychiatric clinical care (0.5 FTE)
  • Support a diverse patient population across both rural and urban communities
  • Engage in academic leadership and potentially future involvement in additional academic and/or administrative roles
  • Teach medical students from Tufts and the nearby University of New England
  • Participate in department governance and decision-making
  • Have formal representation on departmental committees

Requirements

  • Graduate of Allopathic or Osteopathic Medical School
  • Completion of internship and psychiatric residency and/or fellowship training
  • Current or eligible licensure as a physician by the Maine Board of Licensure in Medicine
  • Current certification in Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) or by the American Osteopathic Board of Neurology and Psychiatry
  • Certification in DEA Registration Certificate
  • Psychotherapy specialty expertise and at least three years of documented educational and/or administrative experience

Qualifications

  • Board-certified Psychiatrist
  • Fellowship-trained in Psychiatry
  • Experience in academic leadership

  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively
