About the role
This is a permanent, full-time position located in the Office of Elections, which is attached to the Department of Accounting and General Services. The role serves as the head of the Election Support Services Branch and is responsible for supervising all activities related to clerical support, business services (e.g., budget, fiscal, and personnel), and logistical/warehousing support for the Office of Elections.
Responsibilities
- Supervise a staff of professional workers comparable to the General Professional IV level.
- Serve as a project or team leader, initiating and completing highly complex projects, coordinating and directing a team of lower-level professional workers, and ensuring accuracy and timely completion of work.
- Act as a senior specialist requiring specialized technical knowledge in a particular subject matter area.
- Oversee budget preparation, including quarterly expenditure plans, variance reports, and other financial reports.
- Maintain accounting and fiscal records.
- Perform administrative assignments in compliance with applicable federal and state laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
Requirements
To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements:
- Legal authorization to work in the United States as a citizen, national, permanent resident alien, or eligibility under federal law for unrestricted employment.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university.
- One year of responsible professional work experience demonstrating high analytical skill, including:
- Gathering, evaluating, and analyzing facts and information to resolve problems or determine appropriate courses of action.
- Eliciting information orally and in writing.
- Reading, comprehending, interpreting, and evaluating technical subjects, analyses, or proposals.
- Applying problem-solving methods and techniques, such as defining problems, identifying alternatives, and preparing clear written reports and recommendations.
- Experience comparable to the General Professional IV in the State service, involving complex professional work with considerable research and analysis of issues, identification of options, and recommendation of viable solutions.
- One year of professional work experience in two or more of the following areas:
- Budget preparation and/or financial reporting.
- Accounting and/or fiscal recordkeeping.
- Personnel management functions.
- Demonstrated ability to perform administrative assignments in compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations.
- Supervisory aptitude (actual supervisory experience is not required if strong evidence of necessary abilities or potential is provided).
- Possession of a valid driver’s license at the time of appointment.
Pay
$6,221 to $7,568 per month (SR-24, Step D to I). Hiring rates will be based on availability of funds, applicant’s qualifications, and other relevant factors.
