About the Role
The Department of Pediatrics at the USA Frederick P. Whiddon College of Medicine at the University of South Alabama and USA Health is recruiting a board-certified/board-eligible physician in General Pediatrics to enhance resident and medical student education in the outpatient setting. The Department of Pediatrics serves as the primary pediatric referral center for the region. This role focuses on providing comprehensive outpatient pediatric care while supporting the education and training of medical students and residents.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine wellness examinations and developmental screenings.
- Diagnose and treat a variety of acute and chronic childhood illnesses, injuries, and infections.
- Provide immunizations according to CDC guidelines and maintain accurate vaccination records.
- Counsel patients and families on proper nutrition, hygiene, growth, and development.
- Monitor and document patient progress and maintain thorough medical records.
- Coordinate care with specialists and other healthcare providers as needed.
- Educate parents and guardians regarding medical conditions and preventive healthcare.
- Participate in the education and supervision of pediatric residents and medical students in the outpatient setting.
- Contribute to departmental academic, quality improvement, and scholarly initiatives as appropriate.
- Adhere to medical ethics, patient confidentiality requirements, and institutional policies.
Requirements
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree.
- Completion of an accredited Pediatric Residency Program.
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Pediatrics.
- Eligible for or possession of an unrestricted Alabama medical license.
- Current DEA registration or eligibility to obtain.
