General Operator

About the role

The General Operator position at Johns Manville's Insulation Systems facility in Richmond, IN is responsible for operating the bagger machine to ensure maximum productivity while maintaining safety and quality standards. The role involves a variety of tasks including monitoring equipment, performing maintenance, and assisting with various operations.

Responsibilities

• Cleans work areas and equipment, as needed.
• Maintains security procedures and wears protective clothing as required.
• Monitors and observes the equipment for proper operation and takes corrective action when necessary.
• Aids in outage work, such as cleaning ducts, chains, fans, collection chamber, pit, equipment, etc., during and as downtimes occur.
• Fills propane tanks, hand tapes and stacks when stacker and sealer equipment is down.
• Maintains bag house by changing and dust bags as required.
• Operates push sweeper, cleans out side chambers on bagging equipment, operates manual stretch wrapper equipment.
• Trains less experienced personnel, as needed.
• Performs janitorial duties and general facility cleanup.
• Relieves other employees for breaks and lunch periods, when needed.
• Performs blend/reefed duties as directed.
• Performs recycling duties as required by the guidelines.
• Sorts and fills bags on the bagger unit.
• Keeps units supplied with full boxes of bags.
• Performs other work as required or directed by Shift Supervisor.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read and understand written instructions, policies and procedures.
• Ability to work independently.
• Pays attention to details and communicates well.
• Proven ability to learn new technology and equipment operation.
• Physically able to perform essential job functions.
• Respirator ready.

Pay

The base hourly rate for this position is $20.73. Shift differential of $.50-.75/hr. is offered for hours worked between 3 pm and 7 am. Annual bonus based on plant performance.

Schedule

This Position Offers 8-hour shifts, 7 on 2 off/7 on 2 off/7 on 3-day weekend off. Starting pay is $20.73/hr. with potential for additional compensation.
