This General Mill Hand / General Labor Pool / General Helper position is located in Reading, PA and is fully on‑site.

Responsibilities

• Comply with all safety regulations while in the plant.
• Comply with the Wieland Heyco Quality System and work instruction documents.
• Review the mill card prior to processing and understand customer requirements.
• Assist at the assigned slitting machines and help with productivity.
• Handle material from slitting to shipping: banding, skidding, weighing, identifying, returning material to stock as necessary.
• Complete all quality checks and enter required information onto the mill card.
• Keep the work area clean.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent; able to lift and carry up to 40 lbs; frequent standing, bending, stooping, gripping, and walking.

Skills

• Mechanically and mathematically inclined
• Able to use computer operations
• Able to learn how to read a micrometer
• Manual dexterity needed to perform activities
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
• Ability to perform computations
• Ability to effectively communicate verbally

Pay

• 8 weeks of paid training on first shift at $19.50/hour
• After training, enter the bonus pool earning $4.00+ more per hour
• Attendance‑based pay increases at 5 and 8 months
• Projected earnings: >$23.50/hour after 8 weeks; up to $26.50/hour after 8 months plus shift differentials

Schedule

• Shift options: 2nd shift 3:00 pm – 11:00 pm (+$1.75/hr) or 3rd shift 11:00 pm – 7:00 am (+$1.25/hr)
