General Merchandise Manager

About the role

Provides fast, friendly, helpful and efficient service to all Price Chopper customers. Satisfies customers' needs with a well-stocked department to promote optimal opportunity for sales. Maintains corporate and state sanitation regulations. Responsible for the overall operation of the General Merchandise and HBC department, including financial controls, inventory ordering, shrink controls, and associate training and development. May be responsible for store operation on certain nights of the week as designated by the Store Manager.

Responsibilities

• Meet budgeting and financial aspects (CTO) of the General Merchandise department, including budgeted sales, payroll, gross profit, and shrink.
• Control all inventory levels and ensure compliance with the CGO process; support CGO initiatives fully.
• Conduct mandatory cycle counts.
• Ensure GM and HBC departments are well-stocked and presented within all corporate standards, including pricing, shelf allocations, and unit tags.
• Coordinate the merchandising of all GM products.
• Hire, train, and develop all associates within the General Merchandise department.
• Manage associates within the department and ensure adherence to all company policies and procedures.
• Work closely with other department managers in display merchandising and handling of general merchandise products to maximize sales.
• Maintain a neat, clean, and organized workstation according to 5S standards.
• Maintain shelf conditions according to company programs.
• Receive all warehouse and vendor general merchandise products (Dexing) accurately.
• Control shrink through adherence to related policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management and adhere to all company policies and procedures.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Ability to manage others and demonstrate follow-through to achieve desired results and objectives.
• Satisfactory performance reviews.
• Strong communication skills.
• High School Degree or equivalent.
• 3+ years of related experience.
