About the Role

This role manages associates who support all modes and sectors including LLP, Managed Transportation, Brokerage, and Fleet. A central team with a core focus on creating efficiencies for operations by leveraging associates and creating economies of scale.

Responsibilities

• Maximize the operational and financial performance of the site through leadership, motivation, training, and development of associates; management of tactical activities, analytics, and strategic initiatives; and execution to customers’ requirements and expectations.
• Ensure customer expectations are managed and met; resolve issues, maintain positive customer relationships, and focus on continuous improvement.
• Work with customers to develop logistics strategies and process improvements for a cost-effective and operationally efficient supply chain.
• Stay abreast of market conditions (e.g., capacity constraints, surcharges) and collaborate with customers to evaluate trade-offs between transportation costs, inventory costs, and service levels.
• Lead Monthly Management Business Reviews (MBRs) and/or Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs).
• Support Carrier Development in managing bid events, securing carrier quotes, and customer pricing.
• Manage carrier relationships and lead continuous improvement of implemented Carrier Programs.
• Provide subject matter expertise to customers, Business Development, and other account-level management regarding Managed Transportation capabilities and strategies.
• Develop and maintain processes for monitoring and reviewing new business pursuits/renewal initiatives and actively suggest opportunities for growth with existing customers.
• Manage activities to ensure a safe, secure, clean, and fair work environment for associates.
• Set clear performance expectations and ensure individual accountability.
• Conduct associates’ performance reviews and career development plans; participate in succession planning and talent panel reviews.
• Enforce compliance with site interaction matrix, standard operating procedures, and company policies (e.g., accounting, operational, safety, regulatory, administrative).
• Create and implement strategies to prevent associate turnover.
• Ensure associates and supervisory staff have proper access to tools necessary to perform their duties and manage the availability and maintenance of those tools.
• Provide consultation in the development and implementation of transportation solutions, including Concept of Operations (COO), Concept of Systems (COS), Business Requirements Documents (BRD), cost modeling (e.g., staffing, costing, pricing), and commercial value propositions.
• Operate within the agreed budget (P&L) for the site (e.g., allocations, resources, cost control).
• Own key financial elements/events, including budgeting, forecasting, month-end close, causals, aging accruals, A/R, etc.
• Develop and implement programs, processes, tools, training, and continuous improvement to support effective transportation solutions.
• Ensure all processes are clearly documented and maintained as Standardized Work Instructions (SWIs).
• Maintain the Open Invoice Report (OIR) for carrier invoices to meet agreed-upon carrier funding payment terms.
• Manage the Transportation Management System IT Work Request Log with accurate financial tracking for customer approval/billing/recovery or financial forecasting.

Requirements

• Undergraduate degree in Transportation, Logistics, Management, or related field or equivalent experience (required).
• Master’s degree in Transportation, Logistics, Business, or related field (preferred).
• Four or more years of experience in domestic and/or international Supply Chain and/or Transportation operations (required).
• For International roles: experience in freight forwarding, ocean, international air freight (parcel/cargo), customs brokerage, etc. (ideal).
• For Domestic Roles: experience in TL, LTL, Intermodal, Rail, and Parcel (ideal).
• Previous experience in a Third-Party Logistics (3PL) Transportation Management role (preferred).
• Previous experience with transportation-related accounts and experience within DHL Supply Chain’s various sectors and organization (preferred).
