General Manager of Operations
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and direction to the engineering and technical teams
- Coordinate engineering resources to support project execution and field operations
- Mentor engineers and technical professionals to ensure strong collaboration and performance
- Manage engineering workloads, priorities, and staffing needs
- Partner closely with the President and division business leaders to support day-to-day business operations
- Help oversee operational planning, technical execution, and departmental coordination
- Align engineering efforts with company goals and project demands
- Identify opportunities to improve workflows, processes, and team efficiency
- Support mechanical and HVAC project execution across engineering and field teams
- Aid in troubleshooting technical challenges across projects and service operations
- Collaborate with project managers, field leaders, and technical specialists
Qualifications
- Required: Bachelor’s degree required, 15 to 20+ years of leadership experience within a mechanical, HVAC, facilities management, or technical services environment
- Strong understanding of commercial building systems, including mechanical systems, HVAC systems, and electrical systems
- Experience leading teams within organizations such as mechanical contractors, HVAC service companies, facilities management companies, engineering or technical services firms, commercial building operations organizations
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to manage technical teams while coordinating operations and projects
About the Role
The General Manager of Engineering will oversee engineering operations, coordinate technical resources, support project execution, and ensure strong collaboration between engineering, field operations, and project management teams. This position acts as a senior strategic partner to the President and engineering team leaders, providing leadership in operational planning, technical team management, and overall business growth.

Columbia, Maryland (This position is based in the Columbia office with occasional travel to project sites as needed)
Pay
Competitive compensation package including: Base salary + performance bonus Target total compensation $180,000 – $200,000+ depending on experience Comprehensive benefits package
