General Manager (Mitchell, SD based)

About the Role

Manages all aspects of the location at 1705 W Havens Ave, Mitchell, SD 57301 to achieve maximum sales and profits with available resources. This is an onsite role; relocation to the market is available for the ideal candidate.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee overall sales (professional and retail), operations, production, delivery, purchasing, and inventory control of the location.
  • Direct daily operations and utilize the Online system for relevant functions and reporting.
  • Develop and implement inventory control programs to meet location inventory levels and turns.
  • Participate in recruiting, hiring, and training processes.
  • Create and enforce staffing measures to reduce employee turnover and increase company profits.
  • Motivate employees, maintain a productive workforce, and train successor management.
  • Review and approve wage and salary increases; establish objectives and performance measures.
  • Recommend capital improvements based on forecasted demand, equipment efficiency, and other factors.
  • Institute a cost-effective vehicle and equipment maintenance program.
  • Report obsolete equipment/facilities and submit recommendations for replacements or improvements.
  • Support and reinforce company safety initiatives to ensure compliance with OSHA and DOT requirements.
  • Communicate and enforce company policies, procedures, and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.
  • Act as a liaison between employees and management to foster a healthy work environment.
  • Obtain feedback on customer satisfaction.
  • Manage budget accountability and reporting to meet the company’s financial goals.
  • Establish standard costs, operating budgets, and acceptable inventory levels.
  • Monitor expenses and create new methods to improve financial performance.
  • Supervise subordinate supervisors across various departments, including interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning work, appraising performance, and addressing complaints.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university; four years of related managerial experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Prior experience in the building materials industry.

Work Environment

The role requires travel ranging from 10-25%, depending on location.

  • Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and talk or hear.
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, outside weather conditions, and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
