As a General Manager, you must be committed to inspiring our team, helping our Customers succeed, and growing our business with integrity. This professional-level sales and management position supports both retail and commercial sides of the business. The role requires a solid understanding of store systems, automotive systems, parts knowledge, and the ability to identify, troubleshoot, and assist with DIY projects. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining Professional Customer relationships and driving program growth while achieving financial metrics and maintaining service and operational standards.

Responsibilities

  • Achieve overall store sales goals and service objectives
  • Manage and grow Professional Customer relationships and sales, including building and holding the team accountable for executing Customer action plans
  • Oversee selection, hiring, development, performance management, coaching, scheduling, and engagement of store Team Members
  • Ensure execution of all inventory and operational standards
  • Coach all Team Members to deliver on Customer expectations (DIY and Professional)
  • Handle manager-on-duty responsibilities, including touch base/coaching, floor/phone management, task assignment and completion, safety, and open/close duties
  • Lead change management initiatives
  • Foster a respectful and diverse environment for both Customers and Team Members
  • Provide DIY services such as battery installation, testing, and wiper installation
  • Assist with District/Region functions as requested

Requirements

  • 2-3 years of experience managing a team of 10-20 Team Members in a fast-paced, highly dynamic retail environment
  • Successful experience managing profitability; proven financial and business acumen
  • High school diploma or GED (Bachelor’s degree in business or a related area preferred)
  • Valid driver’s license
  • ASE certification preferred but not required

Skills

  • Working knowledge of automotive systems (preferred)
  • Fluent in English (Spanish a plus); strong communication and relationship-building skills with Customers, peers, and upper management
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel required; PowerPoint preferred)
  • Ability to calculate figures such as discounts, percentages, sales increases, and gross profit percentages
  • Ability to review and analyze business reports, including profit and loss statements (P&L)
  • Strong leadership skills, including holding others accountable, inspecting work quality, and providing inspiring feedback
  • Ability to work varied shifts, including evenings and weekends as needed
  • Friendly communication and ability to locate and stock parts
  • Safety knowledge and skills
  • Ability to become ASE P2 certified or ASE-ready equivalent
  • Advanced parts lookup and sourcing from multiple places, including special order, FDO, and second source
  • Ability to execute and train on store operational processes, procedures, testing, and diagnostic equipment for DIY services
  • Ability to execute and train on inventory systems, store equipment, POS, and parts lookup systems
  • Ability to recruit, select, hire, and develop quality Team Members
  • Ability to build and grow relationships with Professional Customers

Schedule

  • Exempt position requiring a minimum of 50-55 hours per week (excluding meal breaks)
  • Average schedule: 5-6 days per week, 11-hour shifts, including rotating nights and weekends
  • Additional hours may be required based on staffing, store conditions, sales targets, and other business demands
  • Schedule is based on the needs of the business

Physical Demands

  • Predominantly walking or standing during work hours
  • Ability to talk, hear, and use hands/fingers to handle or feel
  • Reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus

Work Environment

  • Primarily indoors, with occasional outdoor tasks (e.g., installing batteries and wiper blades) exposing the employee to various weather conditions
  • Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, high/precarious places, toxic/caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, explosives, and vibration
  • Moderate noise level in the work environment

Position is eligible for sales commission based on individual or store performance.
