General Maintenance Worker II - General Services
About the Role
Tessera is seeking an experienced and hardworking General Maintenance Worker II for General Services. The General Maintenance Worker II performs skilled general maintenance, grounds, roadway, airfield, and infrastructure support work to help maintain safe, functional, and mission-ready facilities. This position supports labor-intensive maintenance operations across assigned base locations, including airfield clearance, stormwater and drainage maintenance, vegetation control, snow and ice removal, roadway and sidewalk maintenance, pressure washing, minor repairs, special event support, and other mission-related tasks.
Typical Duties
- Perform general maintenance, grounds, roadway, airfield, and infrastructure support work across assigned base locations
- Support stormwater and drainage maintenance, including ditch, culvert, and drainage-area vegetation control
- Perform runway and airfield support, including sweeping, Foreign Object Debris removal, runway clearance, and related airfield infrastructure maintenance
- Assist with snow and ice removal operations for roads, parking areas, sidewalks, and airfield surfaces
- Support asphalt, roadway, parking lot, and runway preservation tasks, including sealing, surface preparation, and preparation for striping operations
- Complete sidewalk maintenance, minor concrete repair, moss removal, and other walking-surface maintenance tasks
- Pressure wash buildings, facilities, gates, equipment areas, and grounds as assigned
- Perform vegetation and weed control around utility areas, drainage ditches, airfield areas, fenced areas, and other assigned locations
- Assist with fence repairs, removal of tree limbs and debris, traffic sign repairs, and other site improvement tasks
- Operate or assist with assigned vehicles, tools, and equipment, including maintenance equipment, vactor operations, sweeping equipment, and snow and ice removal equipment, as qualified and authorized
- Support labor-intensive mission requirements, including road grading support, base ceremonies, special event setup and teardown, major installation or community events, hot trash response, and support to other Public Works shops
- Communicate with supervisors, schedulers, customers, and coworkers regarding work status, unexpected repairs, customer concerns, and estimated completion timelines
- Respond professionally to customer inquiries and elevate concerns to supervision when appropriate
- Inspect completed work to ensure it meets applicable safety, quality, contract, and customer standards
- Follow all Tessera policies, safety procedures, PPE requirements, environmental requirements, equipment operating procedures, and customer or contract-specific requirements
- Maintain professionalism in all aspects of operations
- All Other Duties as Assigned
Qualifications
- Three (3) years of facilities maintenance experience preferred
- Must be able to perform heavy manual labor for extended periods, occasionally in adverse weather conditions
Physical Requirements

- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- May be required to reach, kneel, walk, stand, and use repetitive motion for several hours at a time based on position duties
- Work may require repetitive motion, reaching, lifting, kneeling, and walking
- Standing or sitting for several hours at a time, climbing in and out of a vehicle, and up and down stairs may also be required
- Must have the perseverance to work effectively under pressure for extended periods of time
- Must be okay with working from ladders and heights
- Must have good manual dexterity, eye-hand coordination, physical fitness, and a good sense of balance
Requirements
- A valid state driver's license is required with the ability to obtain and maintain coverage by Tessera's insurance
- Access to a federal military installation requires a REAL ID-compliant driver's license or an acceptable alternative, such as a U.S. passport or military ID, in accordance with the REAL ID Act
- Must be able to obtain and maintain applicable security clearances and installation access
- A background check and E-Verify will be conducted for this position

Pay & Schedule
- Compensation: $31.08 - $31.08 per hour
