Job Summary

Installs, maintains, and repairs machinery, equipment, physical structures, and pipe and electrical systems in commercial or industrial establishments by performing the following duties. DIRECTLY SUPERVISES: None

How You Will Create The Extraordinary

  • Visually inspects and tests machinery and equipment.
  • Listens for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunction and discusses machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problems or repair machines.
  • Dismantles defective machines and equipment and installs new or repaired parts.
  • Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.
  • Builds and completes repairs using basic carpentry principles.
  • Installs and repairs pipes, valves and other plumbing fixtures using basic plumbing principles.
  • Repairs and maintains physical structure of establishment.
  • Using basic electrical principles completes electrical work on equipment, structures, etc.
  • Operates cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.
  • Fabricates and repairs counters, benches, partitions, and other wooden structures.

What You Will Need

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Proficient in English verbal and written.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • One to three months related experience and/ or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must have an outgoing, energetic, and enthusiastic attitude.
  • Must be comfortable initiating conversations and a fun environment for guests.
  • Flexible to work various shifts, weekends, and holidays if applicable.

Additional Requirements

  • Must be able to frequently lift and/ or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/ or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required with this job include close vision, distance vision, Peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be able to respond calmly and make rational decisions when handling guest and employee conflicts.
  • Able to ascend and descend stairs and maintain equilibrium for an extended period.
  • Able to work from a standing position and/or walking motion for extended period.
  • Able to add, subtract, multiply, divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Able to compute rate, ratio, and percent to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Able to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Able to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situation.
  • Able to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.
  • Able to write simple correspondence.
  • Effectively present information in one on one and small group situations to clients, customers and other employees of the organization.
  • Responsible for fostering a fun environment.
  • Promote a positive influence in the company and company sponsored events.
  • Maintain a professional work environment with management and staff.

Physical Demands

  • The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and high, precarious places.
  • The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and vibration.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

License Requirements

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a license from the Indiana Horse Racing Commission.
  • Must keep and maintain a valid driver’s license.
