About the role
The DNR is currently seeking to hire one (1) permanent, part-time (80%) General Maintenance Worker at Tettegouche State Park to perform custodial and maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Clean assigned facilities so that all facilities are neat and sanitary for use by park guests and staff.
- Perform light repairs and maintenance of park grounds, facilities, trails and buildings.
- Provide litter and debris pickup on park grounds so that areas are neat, clean and safe for park guests’ use.
- Operate trucks, pickups, tractors, trailers, lawnmowers, chain saws and miscellaneous tools and appliances to provide smooth safe park operations.
- To perform specific tasks as assigned.
Requirements
- Knowledge of methods, tools, and equipment used for cleaning sufficient to determine proper methods and use effectively and safely.
- Knowledge of chemical cleaning agents such as ammonia, bleaches, scouring agents, and soaps sufficient to handle, apply, and dispose of safely.
- Knowledge of safety and accident prevention measures sufficient to identify safety hazards, make necessary repairs, and/or alert appropriate personnel.
- Ability to read and understand written instructions on product labels, in safety manuals, operation manuals, etc.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to provide written information and instructions to the public and other employees.
- Ability to effectively communicate with the public and other employees.
- Organizational and interpersonal skills sufficient to work as a productive member of a team.
- Ability to operate and maintain a variety of equipment, power tools and hand tools.
Qualifications
- One (1) year cleaning experience.
- Knowledge of park rules, policies, facilities, and other local points of interest.
- First Aid and CPR training.
- Experience operating trucks, pickups, tractors, trailers, lawnmowers, chain saws, and miscellaneous tools and appliances to provide smooth, safe park operations.
