About the Role
The General Maintenance Worker performs a variety of basic multi-craft tasks in the general maintenance and repairs of equipment and buildings, including installation, repair, and replacement of electrical and plumbing systems. This position is responsible for building-related basic construction, door hardware systems, painting, fabrication work, and general building-related preventive maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Perform basic installation, repair, and replacement of components of electrical and plumbing systems.
- Perform general maintenance and upkeep of buildings; inspect assigned buildings, fixtures, mechanical equipment, machines, and other structural components.
- Transport tools, equipment, and personnel to and from job sites.
- Obtain equipment and supplies required to complete assignments.
- May coordinate contractor services.
- Respond to emergency calls as needed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED.
- Valid Georgia Driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Two to three years of job-related experience.
- Knowledge of door hardware and openers.
- Ability to operate hand/power tools, motor vehicles (may include forklift), and hydraulic/pneumatic equipment.
- A basic working knowledge of equipment maintenance and repair, and building construction support and maintenance.
- Ability to use specialized computer applications.
Pay
Proposed salary range: $34,800 - $41,700.
Hiring is contingent upon eligibility to work in the United States, completion of a background investigation, and a pre-employment drug test. Offers are subject to applicable federal and state laws, as well as Board of Regents policies.
