General Maintenance Worker 2nd Shift

Duties

• Maintenance, including light equipment, conveyor systems, and general facility maintenance such as greasing bearings, changing belts.
• Preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair work.
• Identify and troubleshoot all conveyor systems and various metals processing equipment.
• Performs routine and technical maintenance and repairs on conveyor and metals metal processing equipment.
• Performs maintenance during unscheduled system downtime on conveyor systems and various metals processing equipment.
• Organizes and/or cleans the yard as needed.
• Works with all safety guidelines and requirements, and leads training of safety standards to personnel.
• Other routine tasks, duties, and responsibilities as assigned by Shredder Manager / Supervisor.

Experience

• Some experience in similar scrap handling work or manufacturing operations desired.
• Hands-on experience with the operation and maintenance of shredders and material handling equipment (e.g., cranes, loaders) is a plus.

Skills

• Able to communicate and work well with coworkers/supervisors to assure the completion of mechanical and maintenance repairs as expeditiously and cost-effectively as possible, to avoid work stoppages while maintaining safety.
• Good understanding of the operation of equipment and ability to determine problems and make decisions to solve the problem.
