General Maintenance Technician (Part-Time)

Department: Buildings & Grounds Job Status: Part-Time 2026 Rate of Pay: $21.63 JOB SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Director of Buildings and Grounds, performs maintenance and custodial duties to preserve county buildings and to provide a safe and healthy environment for employees and clients. Abilities, Knowledge, And Skills Ability to follow written and verbal instructionsAbility to operate and maintain custodial equipmentUnderstands various applicable safety protocols including blood-borne pathogens, MSDS, etc. Principle Duties And Responsibilities The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned. Clean and maintain lavatories, windows, walls, woodwork doors, furniture, floors, etc. Gather and dispose of refuge, including parking lotsMaintain sidewalks. i.e. snow and ice removalOpen/close buildingsMeet/escort vendorsPrepare, maintain, and operate custodial equipment such as vacuum cleaners, shampooers, mops etc.Track supply usage and maintain adequate inventoryMove records, small furniture, and equipment as required Assemble small furnitureEmpties recycle bagsHang picturesOther duties as assigned Qualifications / Experience High school diploma or GED requiredMust have valid driver’s license Other Requirements Employment is dependent on background check, criminal history, and drug screen. Applicant must complete County application form. Supervisory Responsibilities Direct Reports: None Delegation of Work: Not applicable Supervision Given: Not applicable Reports To: This position reports to the Director of Buildings & Grounds or his/her designee WORK LOCATION AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS: This position reports to various facilities within Van Buren County. Ability to life/carry up to and excess of 50 lbs. Ability to climb ladders. Crawl in small spaces, crouch, stand, and walk for extended periods of time.
