About the role

The General Maintenance Technician will handle all residential building maintenance, repairs, and inspections of facilities equipment, including electrical, plumbing, and carpentry systems.

Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent customer service to clients.
  • Inspect buildings, electrical systems, grounds, and equipment to identify hazards, defects, or needed repairs.
  • Perform minor troubleshooting and repairs, including replacing light bulbs, fixtures, electrical sockets, switches, ballasts, and fuses.
  • Service and repair plumbing fixtures, clear clogged lines and drains, and replace water faucets.
  • Perform basic carpentry tasks, such as repairing drywall, painting walls, and fixing doors or windows.
  • Inform management about work order status and compliance with building and safety regulations.
  • Request equipment and supplies to maintain inventory for repairs and installations.
  • Respond to after-hours emergencies as needed.
  • Complete work orders promptly using an employer-provided iPhone.
  • Follow Brewer-Garrett and client contract policies and procedures.
  • Remove snow and salt walkways.
  • Document all building and life safety inspections.
  • Maintain company vehicle (if applicable), tools, and communication devices (e.g., iPad, phone, laptop) in safe operating condition.
  • Participate in meetings, training, and workshops as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; trade school, military training, or apprenticeship preferred.
  • 1+ years of experience in maintenance or construction.
  • 1+ years of experience in drywall and painting.
  • 1+ years of experience in plumbing.
  • 1+ years of experience in electrical work.
  • Experience using power tools, hand tools, and electrical metering devices.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Working Conditions

The role involves occasional standing, walking, sitting, climbing stairs or ladders, and lifting or moving supplies up to 50 pounds.
