About the role
Perform general building maintenance and repair work for commercial campus and residential housing.
Responsibilities
- Ability to follow and complete instructions
- Ability to apply common sense when working on solutions
- Trouble-shoot and correct building or system failures
- Repair appliances and light equipment as needed
- Cook drive motorized vehicle
- Work around machines
- Work above floor level
- Exposure to dust, fumes, gases
- Exposure to marked changes in temperature
- Work outdoors in varying weather
- Repetitive foot movement to operate foot controls
- Repetitive hand movements (firm grasp, fine manipulation, grasp and pull)
Requirements
- Trade school helpful
- Some building and building repair experience
- Lack of experience compensated by high mechanical aptitude or additional education or certification
- Licensing in area of expertise encouraged
Skills
- Mechanical skills in variety of areas; willingness to learn other disciplines
- Expertise in one area is helpful, but not required
- Courteous communication skills with the clients, public and fellow workers
- Strong verbal communication skills
- Written communication skills
- Good attitude
- Clean, well-groomed appearance
