General Maintenance Engineer | Preventative Maintenance (Seasonal)

About the Role

Join our dynamic team at The Seabird Ocean Resort and Spa and work in a beautiful setting with an unobstructed view of the ocean! We are looking for individuals who can provide authentic and memorable experiences that deliver the Southern California Dream to our guests. We are currently seeking a Seasonal Engineer to join our team, with full-time hours available through the season, ending around 9/30/2026.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance throughout both properties, including monitoring, operating, and maintaining mechanical equipment in all areas.
• Repair kitchen equipment, laundry equipment, and HVAC equipment.
• Conduct general facilities maintenance, including replacing light switches, outlets, light fixtures, and working on basic electrical, mechanical, and plumbing equipment.
• Perform painting and patching tasks as needed.
• Respond to emergency/situational/event and project needs outside of regular hours when required.
• Adhere to OSHA safety requirements and fire life safety systems.
• Utilize Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required for specific tasks.

Qualifications

• Good electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to read blueprints, wiring schematics, and technical manuals.
• Fluency in reading and writing English, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in computer skills, including Word, Excel, and Energy Management System.
• Strong interpersonal skills to ensure high levels of guest satisfaction.
• High School graduate or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Additional language skills are a plus.

Physical Demands

• Ability to stand for long hours and work in confined spaces.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Comfortable working at all heights and climbing ladders.
• Availability to work long hours, including nights and weekends.

Pay

The rate for this position ranges from $22.49-$26.00/hour.

Schedule

This role is generally Monday-Friday day shift, performing RMI (repair, maintenance, and improvement) work on mainly rooms. Full-time hours (~40 hours per week) are available, though the position is seasonal and not eligible for medical benefits.

Safety Requirements

OSHA laws require the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when performing work duties that pose a potential risk to health or safety. The hotel provides required PPE, and it is the responsibility of the engineer to wear it as needed. Regular training and refresher training will be conducted as required by law.
