About the role
Perform maintenance functions in the community, including rental units, office buildings, residential areas, grounds, and parking lots. This role involves general maintenance and repair of building structures and associated mechanical, electrical, plumbing, sanitary systems, and equipment. In accordance with the REAL ID Act, effective May 7, 2025, a REAL ID compliant driver’s license/ID is required to access the federal facility.
Responsibilities
- Respond to service calls, complete Change of Occupancy Maintenance work, and other property maintenance requests.
- Transport, install, and connect stoves, refrigerators, dishwashers, and other electrical and gas appliances.
- Load and unload trucks and other conveyances; move supplies and materials to proper locations using wheelbarrows or hand trucks.
- Stack materials for storage or binning; collect refuse and salvageable materials.
- Transport equipment, furnishings, and appliances to job sites.
- Repair and fabricate window and door screens and frames.
- Dig, fill, and tamp earth excavations; level grounds using pick, shovel, tamper, and rake; shovel concrete; clean culverts and ditches; cut trees and brush; operate power tools and lawn mowers.
- Remove floor tile, sheet vinyl, ceramic floor tile, and plywood; remove damaged drywall.
- Operate power blowers or use brooms to clean rooftops, sidewalks, and driveways of leaves and debris.
- Ensure work-site clean up.
- Respond to and complete on-call after-hours emergency and urgent repairs.
- Update work order status, including time, materials, and notes on provided mobile devices accurately and timely.
- Complete and submit all required paperwork accurately and timely.
- Keep supervisor informed of activities, results, identified problems, and potential issues; recommend corrective actions.
- Maintain vehicle and vehicle inventory as prescribed.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Less than 1-3 years of relevant work experience.
- Current driver's license in good standing; ability to meet driving records standards outlined in the Company Safe Vehicular Operations Policy.
- Basic competency in carpentry, plumbing, and electrical trades.
- Ability to provide basic tools and equipment necessary to perform daily duties.
- Basic familiarity with computers and tablets.
- Sharp customer service skills.
- Ability to read and write in English to understand basic instructions and take direction from supervisors.
- Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work.
- This position is located at a federal facility; a REAL ID compliant driver’s license/ID is required effective May 7, 2025.

- Vocational or technical training.
