General Maint. Tech III (#019614) Kershaw Correctional Inst, Kershaw (LANCASTER) Level 2
Plans, develops, and oversees a repair program for all locking devices, doors, door closures, emergency equipment, and other security-related items. Provides general maintenance to ensure maximum security within the institution. Organizes and ensures proper control, accountability, and security for assigned equipment. Performs routine and emergency maintenance on security equipment, doors, and locking devices as required. Serves as on-call maintenance supervisor according to the roster. Conducts daily, weekly, or monthly inventories of keys and related equipment as prescribed. Prepares and submits written reports on inspections and inventories. Procures materials, parts, and supplies to maintain all locking devices, doors, and keys in working order and completes other assigned projects. Maintains an effective, organized preventive maintenance program.
Must successfully complete four (4) weeks of SCDC Basic Training upon hire.
Requirements
- A high school diploma (or equivalent trades experience may substitute on a year-for-year basis).
- Three (3) years of professional experience in institutional general maintenance, construction, and repair.
Preferred Qualifications
- Welding experience is preferable.
