General Helper - 2nd shift

About the Role

Alpha Baking Company, Inc., a national distributor of breads, rolls, buns, and sweet goods, is seeking a general helper to join our team. Founded in 1979 and headquartered in Chicago, Alpha Baking operates production plants in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Wisconsin. Our retail brands include S. Rosen’s, MaryAnn, Natural Ovens Bakery, Kreamo, and Golden Hearth, with products also sold under private label agreements and the Alpha Baking foodservice brand. Our products are distributed to national restaurant chains, quick service restaurants, schools, institutions, major league sports franchises, and grocery stores.

Responsibilities

• Pack products within specifications, including size, color, shape, etc.
• Clear jams in packing, labeling, and casing areas.
• Produce to customer specifications.
• Assist with other general helper roles as assigned.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area through general housekeeping.
• Commit to a continuous improvement work team environment.
• Work weekends as assigned.
• Perform other duties and/or projects as assigned.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Entry-level position; no prior experience required.

Physical Demands

• Pushing, pulling, and bending.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Working Relationships

Works closely with oven operator, packaging lead, quality and maintenance staff, as well as other general helper positions. Reports to the Plant Manager and takes direction from the Foreperson.
