General Foreman Overview
The Foreman holds the critical responsibility of supervising work crews to ensure the timely and safe completion of assigned projects. This role is designated as 'safety-sensitive' because any failure to properly execute the essential or marginal duties could pose a threat to the health and safety of the employee, their colleagues, and the public.
Pay Range
- $34+/hourly
- Paid WEEKLY
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of work crews engaged in erecting, fabricating, and installing structural steel.
- Communicate with customers to organize work details and solve problems.
- Organize, lead, and train employees to complete projects within established guidelines and timeframe.
- Prepare performance reviews, warning/counseling reports, and separation reports for crew.
- Responsible for adhering to all company safety and QA/QC programs and OSHA regulations.
- The ability to work overtime and regular, punctual attendance is required.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a foreman in various crafts.
- Must have good oral communication skills, able to organize, and plan work in a timely manner.
- Must have basic math skills and be able to read/understand structural drawings.
Physical Demands
- Must be able to lift more than 50 pounds frequently on the job and able to lift own body weight while climbing more than 300 feet.
- Must be able to pull own weight when climbing stairs, ladders and scaffolding up to 150 feet.
- Excessive amounts of bending, stooping, carrying, pushing, and pulling weights up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to tolerate temperature fluctuations, a loud and dusty work environment, and able to be around high voltage electromagnetic fields. All the physical demands listed are essential functions.
- Some travel required.
- Must be able to work long hours, weekends, holidays, and overtime.
