General Construction Technician

About the role

The General Construction Technician performs a wide variety of construction, renovation, installation, maintenance, and labor activities in support of facility and construction projects across corporate and manufacturing locations. This role assists with building improvements, equipment installations, demolition, concrete work, carpentry, and general construction activities.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with construction, remodeling, renovation, and facility improvement projects.
  • Perform demolition, framing, carpentry, and general labor activities.
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment safely and effectively.
  • Assist with concrete preparation, pouring, finishing, and cleanup.
  • Support building and installation of offices, workspaces, equipment platforms, and facility improvements.
  • Assist with moving, rigging, positioning, and installation of equipment and materials.
  • Operate boom lifts, scissor lifts, and other construction equipment when qualified.
  • Prepare job sites, maintain work areas, and ensure projects remain organized and safe.
  • Load, unload, transport, and stage materials and equipment.
  • Measure, mark, and cut materials accurately.
  • Follow construction drawings, instructions, and safety procedures.
  • Work both independently and as part of a construction team.
  • Perform other construction-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required qualifications include the ability to accurately read a tape measure, experience working with hand tools and power tools, and the ability to perform physically demanding work. A strong work ethic and commitment to safety are also required, as well as reliable transportation and a valid driver's license.

Preferred qualifications include experience in residential carpentry, construction labor, landscaping, mechanics, maintenance, or related trades, as well as experience operating various construction equipment and familiarity with concrete work, framing and carpentry, rigging and material handling, equipment installation, demolition, facility renovations, and general construction techniques. OSHA certification or other construction safety training is also preferred.

Physical Requirements

The physical requirements of the job include frequently lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds, working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions, climbing ladders, accessing lifts, and working at varying heights, as well as wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE).
