General Construction Laborer

About the Role

Construction Laborers perform tasks involving physical labor at construction sites. They may operate hand and power tools of all types and a variety of other equipment and instruments.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the construction site by removing material and debris
• Dig ditches or trenches, backfill excavations, or compact and level earth to grade specifications
• Load, unload, or identify building materials, and distribute them to the appropriate locations
• Install insulation in equipment or structures
• Assemble and dismantle temporary equipment or structures
• Position, join, align, or seal structural components, such as concrete wall sections or pipes
• Spread concrete or other aggregate mixtures and finish concrete surfaces
• Perform other duties as assigned
• Take direction from leaders and management to complete projects in a safe, timely, and effective manner
• Work in a fast-paced environment to meet customer deadlines
• Conduct yourself in a positive, respectful manner
• Communicate effectively with co-workers, supervisors, and managers
• Work alone or with a team in all weather conditions
• Report concerns, problems, or errors to the supervisor/manager immediately

Requirements

• Ability to work well with your hands
• Must be organized, a self-starter, dependable, punctual, and work well with others
• General construction knowledge is a plus but willing to train those eager to learn
• Knowledge of construction materials and tools
• High school diploma/GED preferred
• Vocational-Technical School/Courses are desired
• Valid driver’s license with dependable transportation
• Pass drug screen and background check
• Able to occasionally sit; regularly stand, walk, use hands to finger or feel, lift up to 50 pounds, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk, see, or hear
