ManagementFull-time

Primary Purpose

To perform a variety of cleaning activities in assigned buildings/facilities, keeping them clean, sanitary and orderly, and to perform other tasks related to the area of assignment.

Essential Responsibilities

  • High Dusting: Using a treated high duster, begin cleaning in a counter‑clockwise direction around the room – high dust surfaces above shoulder height (lights above doors, curtain tips, vents, ledges). Clean the high duster by gently brushing in a downward direction into the service cart.
  • Sanitizing / Spot Cleaning: Using a germicidal solution, work counter‑clockwise around the room, sanitizing surfaces below shoulder height (ledges, chairs, telephone, countertops, trashcans). Remove fingerprints and smudges from doorknobs and walls. Spot clean windows with the proper solution.
  • Bathroom Cleaning: Using germicidal solution, wipe down in order: above and below sink; toilet seat and outside of toilet bowl; inside of toilet with a Johnnie Mop and proper germicidal solution, paying attention to the rim. Clean and check soap and paper dispensers daily; refill as needed.
  • Empty Trash Cans: If liquid is inside the can, remove the liner and wipe the trash can, then place a clean liner.
  • Floor Dusting or Vacuuming: Using a treated dust mophead, begin at the back of the room with an “S” stroke to capture dust on the leading edge. Dust under all furniture and in restrooms, stopping just inside the door. Clean the mophead with a downward stroke, sweep dust into a dustpan, and dispose of it in the service cart. When vacuuming, start at the back and work toward the door, ensuring you get under chairs and other furniture.
  • Grounds Care – Outside Areas: Clean and check several times during the day; empty and clean ash urns and trash cans; police sidewalks, flower beds and curb line for trash and cigarette butts; spot clean spills on sidewalks; remove gum with a scraper; wipe benches, vending machines, lower window ledges; high dust for dust and cobwebs; clean public‑area glass as necessary; police parking lot for trash.
  • Public Common Areas: Dust mop and spot mop main hallways; clean glass several times daily; clean planters inside and out, free from bird waste; high dust window areas at least twice per week; check all corners and edges for dirt, cobwebs, and other debris.
  • Food Court: Clean, remove trash and sanitize tables; place chairs back under tables; spot clean spills; empty and clean trash cans; remove accumulated dirty trays to the washroom and clean using a tray power washer; stack clean trays on a shelf for recycling; police outside eating areas.
  • Floor Sanitizing: Using the proper germicidal solution, start at the back of the room when sanitizing the floor. Mop under furniture and behind doors while backing out of the room.
  • Inspection: After completing a room, mentally review cleaning steps and visually check furniture placement, making corrections as needed to prevent problems or complaints.
  • Hall, Lobby, Stairs, Water Fountains, Furniture, Wall Spotting and High Dusting: Performed daily.
  • Customer Relations and Service: Knock lightly on doors before entering occupied rooms; be friendly and cheerful; answer questions courteously or refer to someone who can; report broken or out‑of‑order items to the supervisor; work quietly and speak quietly; stay in the assigned work area unless directed otherwise; maintain a clean and neat personal appearance; report any incomplete work at shift end; always be courteous.
  • Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned or directed by the supervisor and/or Account Manager, which may include floor care such as stripping and waxing floors, extraction and bonneting of carpets, auto‑scrub and buffing of floors.
