General Building Maintenance Technician

About the role
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining the physical integrity of the property and assisting the Lead Maintenance Technician and Maersk Facility Maintenance Manager with their responsibilities. This role involves all aspects of the property's maintenance and repairs, including preventive, corrective, deferred, and emergency tasks, while following the maintenance program to protect and maintain the property.
Responsibilities
- Conduct all maintenance work, service requests, building inspections, and preventative maintenance.
- Ensure all work is completed in a safe, prompt, and professional manner.
- Communicate with managers about demonstrated concerns of the facility.
- Prepare maintenance reports and other job-related documentation.
- Maintain inventory of equipment, tools, and supplies.
- Serve as a role model for maintenance staff by following all policies and procedures.
- Complete additional duties as described by the Building Manager or Client.
- Perform grounds policing.
- Install, service, replace, and repair the following in a responsible and professional manner:
- Light plumbing
- Caulking
- Countertops and cabinets, desk drawers, and locks
- Light HVAC
- Interior and exterior doors
- Electrical circuits, receptacles, breakers, switches, and fuses
- Light fixtures
- Carpentry
- Toilets, sinks, and vanities
- Clean and inspect storage rooms
- Stair treads and cove basing
- Fencing
- Minor drywall damages
- Light painting
Requirements
Technical Requirements
The Maintenance Technician must demonstrate a basic understanding and knowledge of general maintenance, carpentry, painting, refurbishing, plumbing, electricity, and light HVAC in both theory and practical application.
Physical Demands
- Able to physically perform the following duties for prolonged periods of time:
- Unassisted lifting up to 50 pounds
- Bending
- Walking
- Kneeling
- Stretching
- Able to work on step ladders or extension ladders.
- Able to work indoors and outdoors in all climates while adhering to company safety requirements and programs.
- Able to perform all duties in a safe manner at all times.
- Must be able to climb ladders, lift and carry 50 or more pounds, distinguish colors for electrical work, and tolerate confined spaces.
- Work will involve heights and seasonal temperature extremes.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 4 years of full-time maintenance experience.
- Willingness to perform all required tasks.
- Demonstrated knowledge of work safety habits.
- Ability to professionally represent the company.
- Supply basic tools.
- Able to work on-call and extended hours (including after hours and weekends).
- Commitment to following strict safety protocols within a data center environment.
