General Anesthesiologist

About the Role

The Department of Anesthesiology at the University of Wisconsin is recruiting a general/Adult Multispecialty anesthesiologist primarily to provide clinical anesthesia care with teaching opportunities to residents and medical students. If appointed on the CHS track, duties will also include education and research components. This position is full or part-time FTE 75-100%. This position requires work to be completed onsite at a designated campus work location.

Applicants for this position will be considered for the titles: Clinical Professor or Clinical Associate Professor or Clinical Assistant Professor or Professor (CHS) or Associate Professor (CHS) or Assistant Professor (CHS). The title is determined by the experience and qualifications of the finalist.

Key Job Responsibilities

• Teach medical students, residents, and fellows
• Participate in administrative and committee work to support the clinical and scholarly missions of UW Health and the School of Medicine and Public Health
• Work in a collegial relationship with other faculty members

Duties by Track

Clinician Teacher (CT) track:

• Provision of clinical anesthetic care to surgical patients (working in the operating room, plus evening and weekend call) in an anesthesia team model

CHS track:

• Major teaching responsibilities for residents and medical students in the operating room and didactic sessions, with primary emphasis on general anesthesia procedures and techniques or area of subspecialty training
• Provision of clinical anesthetic care to surgical patients (working in the operating room, plus evening and weekend call) in an anesthesia team model or personally performed anesthesia
• Opportunity for participation in clinical research for interested candidates

Education

MD, DO, or equivalent is required by start date of the position.

Qualifications

Required:

• Wisconsin medical license by start date of position
• Board eligible or certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology by start date of position

Compensation

Negotiable, 12-month appointment.
