General Anesthesiologist

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates patients and their medical history prior to surgery, including prescription medicine, over-the-counter medicine and herbal supplements.
  • Administers and manages anesthesia as part of the process before, during and after surgery.

Requirements

  • M.D. or D.O. from an accredited school of medicine and completion of an Anesthesiology Residency from an accredited institution and three (3) years of clinical practice in anesthesiology.
  • Board Certified/Eligible in Anesthesiology.
  • Valid License by State of Nevada to practice medicine.
  • State of Nevada Pharmacy Board License to Prescribe Medications and DEA Controlled Substance Registration Certificate.
  • Some positions may require one or more of the following certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) from the American Heart Association (AHA).

Qualifications

  • Board Certified in Anesthesiology Fellowship or Board Certified in Pediatrics is preferred but not required.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  • Mobility to stand for long periods during surgical procedures, stamina to maintain concentration for extended periods of time.
  • Vision to read printed materials and a VDT screen.
  • Hearing and speech to communicate effectively in-person and over the telephone.
  • Strength and agility to exert up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
