About the role

The Alfred Care Group (ACG) of Bayside Health is a major provider of health care in metropolitan Melbourne. ACG has three major hospital sites – The Alfred, Sandringham Hospital and Caulfield Hospital. Care is also delivered through a number of facility and home-based services. The Department of General Medicine is a major provider of admitted and ambulatory care within ACG.

Responsibilities

  • Offer trainees a broad experience of clinical general medicine
  • Opportunities to participate in other specialty rotations, research, education and system improvement projects
  • Meet the CORE training requirements of the RACP PREP Advanced Training curriculum in General and Acute Care Medicine
  • Include Addictions (The Alfred), Cardiology (The Alfred and Mildura Cardiology), Community (The Alfred), General Medicine (The Alfred, Cabrini, Sandringham, and Wangaratta), General Medicine Acute Streaming Team (The Alfred), Infectious Diseases (Wangaratta), ICU (Cabrini), Perioperative Medicine (The Alfred), Respiratory (The Alfred)

Requirements

All rotations meet the CORE training requirements of the RACP PREP Advanced Training curriculum in General and Acute Care Medicine and include the following:

  • Addictions (The Alfred)
  • Cardiology (The Alfred and Mildura Cardiology)
  • Community (The Alfred)
  • General Medicine (The Alfred, Cabrini, Sandringham, and Wangaratta)
  • General Medicine Acute Streaming Team (The Alfred)
  • Infectious Diseases (Wangaratta)
  • ICU (Cabrini)
  • Perioperative Medicine (The Alfred)
  • Respiratory (The Alfred)

Qualifications

This role is selected from applicants to the GACM APT program. This position is accredited for General Medicine training (non-core) and gives the successful candidate a 6 month fulltime role supporting the Director of Physician Education, alongside a clinical attachment to an area of interest. This role may be paired with a fulltime 6 month clinical rotation to complete a full 12 months.
