GenAI Programmer / AI Engineer

Location: Jersey City, NJ | Employment Type: Contract (12 months, likely extension) | Hybrid (3 days onsite)

About the role

A top financial services firm is seeking a hands-on GenAI Engineer for a high-visibility Generative AI initiative focused on enterprise-scale document summarization and conversational AI. The platform will support large volumes of heterogeneous documents across multiple lines of business.

Responsibilities

• Deliver end-to-end GenAI/LLM-based solutions in enterprise production environments

Requirements

• 2+ years delivering GenAI/LLM-based solutions
• Strong Python expertise: REST APIs, FastAPI, WebSocket-based applications
• Experience with LLMs (GPT, LLaMA), Agentic frameworks (LangGraph), orchestration frameworks (MCP, LangChain, LlamaIndex)
• Experience with embedding models and RAG evaluation frameworks (RAGAS, LangSmith, Phoenix/Arize)
• Model Governance and Model Risk Management: model documentation, governance compliance, monitoring, performance controls
• Excellent communication skills; ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
• 10+ years overall IT experience with leadership on complex enterprise initiatives

Preferred Qualifications

• Java development experience
• Experience with enterprise data stores: Redis, MongoDB
• Experience with distributed/big data: Spark, Kafka, Hadoop/Hive, Neo4j
• Knowledge of ML techniques, classifiers, and statistical modeling
• Advanced degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or quantitative field

Pay

$47.49 - $67.85 per hour
