Gem Dental Hygiene Aide
About the role
The Gem State Public Health AmeriCorps program places community members with non-profits and public health organizations across the state in paid volunteer positions called AmeriCorps positions. These positions provide an education award and professional experience in a public health setting focusing service on mental health, and suicide intervention and prevention services.
Member Duties
- Help increase, expand, and/or expand health programs and services by helping patients in the intake process, model mental health coping skills and strategies needed for resiliency, while listening for indicators that the patient needs access to mental health resources and providing those.
- Provide access to quality oral health needs and mental health needs, to the public and population the ISU Dental Hygiene clinic services.
- Institute the changes needed in dental hygiene care to maintain a progressive program and care quality, while continually assessing the changes on patient outcomes, maintaining the traditional quality of care.
- Serve state and regional public needs in oral healthcare demands, while providing all with quality care.
