Gelcoat

We are looking for a candidate with painting, taping, and Gelcoat experience who enjoys creating quality products and has an eye for detail. This department applies Gelcoat to boat hull and boat deck molds according to production orders.

About the role

This is a second shift position with hours from 4:30 pm to 1:30 am, Sunday night through Thursday night. The role includes a shift differential and requires wearing a respirator—candidates must pass a Pulmonary Function Test (PFT) and remain clean-shaven at all times. All positions are safety-sensitive, meaning impairment from marijuana may pose a health or safety risk. Qualified candidates will be asked to submit to drug testing.

Responsibilities

• Spray Gelcoat, check for proper millage, read orders, and apply the corresponding color requested.
• Keep work area clean and orderly.
• Work with a team to complete daily tasks.
• Must be able to wear a full-mask respirator.
• Use small hand tools including a gelcoat gun, razor knife, and scissors.
• Inspect all parts to ensure they are complete and meet quality standards.

Requirements

• Must meet physical requirements such as heavy lifting, bending, and twisting.
• Must be able to handle chemicals (gelcoat, fiberglass, and resin).
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to follow directions from supervisors.
• Personal Protective Equipment required: safety glasses, full-mask respirator, Tyvek protection suit.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous autobody or boat gelcoat painting experience.
• Experience with fiberglass or resin.
• Forklift experience.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to work in a non-climate-controlled environment where ambient air temperature can exceed outside air temperature.
• Must be able to bend at the waist and knees and stand for extended periods.
• Must be able to climb into and out of the interior of boats.
• Must be able to wear proper safety equipment, including a respirator when necessary.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds when necessary.
