About the role

The University of New Mexico Comprehensive Cancer Center (UNMCCC) and the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Hematology/Oncology at the UNM School of Medicine, invite applications from physicians or physician scientists with an interest in clinical care, clinical and translational research, and clinical trials for patients with gastrointestinal (GI) malignancies. Join a multidisciplinary team while gaining major influence in an academic setting. You'll partner with national laboratories and serve New Mexico's diverse populations through groundbreaking research and clinical trials.

  • Partner with surgical oncologists specializing in gastrointestinal malignancies such as colorectal, gastric, esophageal, and hepatopancreaticobiliary primary tumors, gastrointestinal stromal tumors, neuroendocrine tumors, appendiceal neoplasms, and peritoneal surface malignancies
  • Expand opportunities for regional cancer therapies such as hepatic arterial pump infusion and intraperitoneal chemotherapy
  • Design and conduct cancer clinical trials for gastrointestinal malignancies
  • Collaborate with 136 oncology physicians and 123 research scientists
  • Teach residents and fellows in an academic medical environment
