About the role
The GI Technician supports gastrointestinal procedures, preparing rooms, assisting with equipment, monitoring patient comfort, and cleaning instruments to maintain a sterile environment.Responsibilities
- Prepares procedure rooms and checks all equipment before and after procedures.
- Assists physicians with equipment handling and maintenance.
- Maintains patient comfort and monitors for signs of abuse/neglect.
- Communicates effectively with RNs and other healthcare professionals.
- Includes parents/caregivers in care, involving them in providing care and keeping them in view when possible.
- Sets up for all GI Lab procedures.
- Monitors patient comfort and ensures sterile conditions.
- Collaborates with physicians and other healthcare professionals to optimize resource use.
Requirements
- High School Graduate
- Graduate from a Surgical Technologist program and have one (1) year of hospital experience.
- BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
Preferred
- Surgery center or GI Lab experience preferred.
