Gas Repair Specialist - 1st Shift

Job Responsibilities

  • Review job releases and supporting documentation to understand the assigned scope of work.
  • Review prior job history and prepare incoming equipment inspection packages.
  • Create and detail ERP jobs to support the full work scope, including internal and external operations.
  • Review drawings, specifications, and work instructions for standards compliance before issuing shop work packages.
  • Maintain a scope and cost workbook for assigned jobs, including labor, materials, and subcontracted services.
  • Develop and implement new inspection forms as needed.
  • Review inspection results and verify conformance to EthosEnergy standards, OEM specifications, or applicable drawings.
  • Develop and implement repair work scopes and cost workbooks outlining required labor, materials, and outside services; review with the Repair Engineer for technical concurrence and with management, manufacturing, and the Project Manager as appropriate.
  • Facilitate project scope review meetings as needed, document agreed updates and revise the workbook and ERP records where applicable.
  • Initiate purchasing for required parts, materials, and vendor services to support assigned jobs.
  • Track supplier deliverables, follow up on progress, resolve issues, and coordinate with Supply Chain as needed.
  • Consult with Manufacturing on make-or-buy decisions.
  • Cook with the Project/Commercial Manager and Repair Engineer on applicable jobs.
  • Prepare RFQ estimates for Commercial as requested, reviewing work scopes and estimates with management, engineering, and manufacturing as appropriate.
  • Prepare cost estimates for extra work authorizations, recording updates in the workbook while Commercial updates ERP records.
  • Work additional hours as needed to support production schedules.
  • When not supporting production work, identify process improvements and continue building knowledge of rotating equipment and repair practices.

Required Skills / Knowledge

  • Gas turbine knowledge, including operating principles and key systems.
  • Understanding of gas turbine rotor, stator, compressor, combustion, and turbine components.
  • Familiarity with industrial and aero-derivative gas turbine systems.
  • Ability to interpret OEM manuals, technical drawings, repair procedures, and work instructions.
  • Component repair experience, including disassembly, assembly, inspection, surface preparation, and repair techniques.
  • Ability to inspect casings, rotors, shafts, diaphragms, blades, and vanes for wear, erosion, corrosion, FOD, and other damage.
  • Proficiency with precision measurement tools, including micrometers, dial indicators, bore gauges, calipers, height gauges, depth gauges, runout equipment, and alignment tools.
  • Knowledge of machining practices, tolerances, balancing principles, lifting and rigging practices, and safe hand and power tool use.
  • Experience with grinding, polishing, and other repair-related surface finishing techniques.
  • Quality control skills, including in-process inspections, dimensional verification, accurate documentation, ISO/OEM standards compliance, and non-conformance reporting.
  • Ability to complete repair reports, record measurements and inspection results, and maintain accurate service documentation.
  • Experience using CMMS and ERP systems when required.
  • Strong understanding of key safety practices, including LOTO, hazard communication, hot work, confined space awareness, rigging and lifting safety, PPE requirements, and fire prevention.
  • Leadership and training skills, including mentoring, assisting with new employee training, demonstrating proper repair techniques, and supporting competency development.
  • Able to share technical knowledge, communicate repair status and concerns, and work effectively with machinists, welders, inspectors, engineers, and supervisors.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement initiatives.

Education Requirements

  • Minimum HS diploma or GED.
  • BS in engineering is preferred, will consider years of experience, combined with education for this position.
  • Certifications in CAD or PMP are a plus.

Physical Requirements

  • Regularly stand and walk for extended periods, up to 8 to 12 hours per shift.
  • Bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, and reach overhead.
  • Work in various positions, including confined or restricted work areas.
  • Maintain balance while working on platforms, ladders, and elevated surfaces.
  • Perform repetitive hand, wrist, and arm movements.
  • Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull materials weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance.
  • Sometimes lift and move materials weighing up to 75 pounds with assistance or mechanical lifting devices.
  • Safely use overhead cranes, hoists, slings, and rigging equipment.
  • Handle, position, and maneuver gas turbine components and tooling.
