About the role

Supervise the performance of damage prevention activities, maintenance, and repair of gas operations facilities, including all related projects, resource management, and customer relations. Ensure safe, effective, and efficient performance and compliance with applicable PNG, PUC, and Federal rules/regulations. This position, located in the Western Region, will have primary responsibility for supervising damage prevention work in the Western Division and will represent the company at PA Damage Prevention Committee meetings with a focus on process improvement. Collaborate with others to support reliability performance, safety goals, and ensure timely restoration of service.

  • Plan, schedule, assign, and monitor work during regular, outage, and/or emergency situations, including coordination with outside sources, other utilities, and completion of appropriate project paperwork.
  • Pre/post-inspect jobs and provide safety observations, including equipment and vehicle maintenance/repairs.
  • Resolve design problems and material discrepancies.
  • Monitor contractor activities and project expenses, including review and approval of invoices.
  • Ensure proper work methods and safety precautions are followed, including adherence to SOPs and applicable guidelines/regulations.
  • Resolve complaints (customer, union, etc.) in a timely manner and in compliance with SOPs and regulations.
  • Utilize GIS and SAP (or related) applications.
  • Act as a point of contact for federal and state audits and investigations.
  • Monitor budget goals, control spending, and overtime within approved levels.
  • Advise, provide, and/or assist in technical/safety training and development of employees and contractors.
  • Supervise employee productivity, including performance management of non-union direct reports.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in gas operations or other related industry.
  • Minimum of 1 year of formal leadership experience.
  • Understanding of PUC, CFR, and/or DOT regulations.
  • Demonstrated success in a leadership role.
  • Demonstrated success in systems and project management.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Management, or equivalent level of education and experience.

Skills

  • Knowledge of applicable systems (e.g., transmission, distribution, piping, storage, SCADA, customer service), SOPs, practices, procedures, and federal/state/PUC regulations.
  • Exceptional skills in Microsoft software, compliance/tracking applications, and systems.
  • Strong planning, organizational, project, and systems management skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage costs, personnel, and schedules.
  • Solid leadership, team-building, written/verbal communication skills; ability to manage conflict, problem-solve, motivate, and lead change.

Working Conditions

  • Daily travel to work sites, external customers, and travel beyond Pittsburgh representing the company.
  • Perform light work—exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally.
  • Office and field environment; may be subject to extreme temperatures, noise, wet/humid conditions, mechanical/electrical/gas exposure hazards, fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases, and poor ventilation.
